I find that women love to read celebrity gossip rags like “OK” and “In Touch”, while men just don’t care. When I see these magazines and shows, I feel so disgusted, but the women in my life (my wife, sisters, mom, co-workers, strangers on the bus, etc.) all LOVE them.

We love to read or hear ANY gossip… not just celebrity.
it’s just like men and sports….I guess =]
Teaches us what’s what in dealing with others. Gives something we’re allowed to talk about at work too.
Those are two generalizations that are not necessarily true. For example, I’m a woman and could not give a flip about Hollywood stars. Media does lure us into their lifestyles and to see famous people as trendsetters, models, etc., but many women, and men do have it all in perspective and do not model their actions after people just because they’re famous. Merry Christmas!
Not just women….my husband gets them claiming he bought them “for me” yet he’s the first to read it….and spoil all the good gossip for me! I think he reads not only for all the gorgeous women in them, but the gossip as well, as he gets just as giddy as I do. It’s a form of entertainment to read about what messes “celebrities” get themselves into….I thought I had problems, but apparently not!

Maybe all the women you know are the brainwashed masses who believe they should aspire to be like non-entities.
Women use these magazines as a guide for their own lives. It allows them to daydream and experiment with different scenarios in a way that can’t hurt them. It allows them to judge what others are doing wrong, or right, what others are getting away with, and what reactions various trangressions will provoke. (Angelina grabbed a married man. So did Julia Roberts. Do people **** them now or are they still popular? Did they come out on top? How did they manage that? The Spears kid sister is pregnant. What do people think? Will it wreck her career? Will she come out on top, too? What’s her secret?)

Seriously, though, you really can get more from good literature.
i dont like to read celebrity gossip. I like to read about politics and current events.
They are nosy social creatures. It’s not just celebrity, it’s also at work and their neighborhoods.
They are also nosy about other women’s loins. To find out if they are pregnant or not. They like to do that stuff together, get pregnant.
