Last year, I bought the Eyeclops bionic eye for my son, and he thought it was pretty cool. When I first heard that EyeClops Night Vision Goggles were coming out, I was very excited, for myself AND for my son!

When my son first tried on the goggles, he complained that his field of vision was smaller. When I looked on the internet about regular night vision goggles, I learned that night vision has its limitations and will never be as good as regular vision, no matter what.

For one thing, it’s kind of weird that your vision comes from the center eyepiece mounted on your forehead like a third eye. What I mean to say is that normally you see things through your eyes, but the eyeclops “sees” through it’s 3rd eye that’s mounted about 4 inches up and to the left of your right eye. This is a bit disorienting when you first use the device, but my son got used to it pretty quickly.

Another thing is that the field of vision is much smaller than your normal, 180 degree field of vision, but I learned that that’s just one of the limitations of night vision itself, no matter what device you’re using.

Since the eyeclops night vision goggles only provide a small field of vision, and due to the fact that your night vision is only seen through the right eye, your depth perception will not work as well either. All in all, there are some guidelines to night vision, such as – don’t go running around in night vision mode – you’ll probably hurt yourself. Walking around is fine, however. Just be safe about it.

Because I was curious about why you only get 1 eye’s worth of night vision, I researched and learned that the reason this is so is because if you suddenly need to have regular night vision you can simply flip up the flap over your left eye and not have to wait for your eyes to adjust to the dark to see. If you’ve been running around with your eyeclops night vision goggles on for over 20 minutes, you’ll not be able to see well if you attempt to use your right eye to see in either normal dark or normal light. Man, Jakks company thought of everything!

On these goggles, there’s 2 night vision modes – one is 100% stealth (no one can see you) and the other one gives you better night vision but throws off a faint infrared light from the goggles themselves, so you’re not 100% invisible. The EyeClops night vision goggles DO work very well, and for the price, they’re amazing. When I tried them, I walked around our house in the darkness and could easily see my way around, so they DO work.

If you have kids (especially boys) and if you have any mischief in your heart, I think you’ll really like these night vision goggles. They’re definitely worth it, and you can see lots of stuff you’ve never seen before. I highly recommend them as gift for Christmas for your kid or kids.
