couldn’t they have modernized the way the ship looked? kind of lame.

The last movie broke the ‘odd even’ rule in a bad way.. maybe this movie will break it in a good way! I think it will!

“Have you found your place in this world? ” This is gonna be a great Sci-Fi movie!!

      Con’s:
      1. It’s an odd numbered movie. (This has always been a big thing with Star Trek movies. The even numbered ones do good, and the odd numbered ones do bad.)
      2. Many fans may not like the fact that someone new has come and messed with their show, even IF it’s an improvement.
      3. The Star Trek Stigma. (It’s to the point that it’s almost embarrassing to just tell someone that you like Star Trek. As soon as you say anything, people picture a bunch of nerds in costumes at a Star Trek convention.)

Pro’s and Con’s of the New Movie:
      Pro’s:
      1. Star trek has a wide fan base. (Although, this seemed to do little for Nemesis.)
      2. J.J. Abrams. (Fans of J.J. Abrams will be attracted to the movie. Plus, he has tried to make it appeal to a wide audience, and he’s worked to rid it of the stigma of being a Star Trek and the stereotype of trekkies.)
      3. New actors may give new depth to the characters.
      4. It’s time travel. (That’s a personal favorite. I love complex and time travel stories.)

    7. ViperMan2000 says:

I **** people that feel they have to swear every other word just to say something. All they do is make themselves look like idiots the whole time. I appreciate when someone can actually discuss something in a civilized fashion.

Another funny thing, my wife and I have a fun habit of TRYING to recognize actors in roles! We make it like a game, whoever can spot someone and describe where they were seen before “wins”. :) I suppose that doesn’t help my argument of the “suspension of disbelief” but anyway.

Thanks so much for giving me food for thought; you gave me a new thing to think about. :)

“Firstly i’d like to say it has been refreshing to talk with someone who actually can formulate an arguement without dropping the F-Bomb every other word ”

Dear Lord, you sound JUST LIKE ME!! LOL!! :D

Plus, I feel the same way in return. (nice to meet ‘cha!)

    12. TheJediCharles says:

Yea, I hear what you’re saying, and I can’t disagree with that.

However, I suspect I’m unaware of an unfair advantage I must have, which is I basically don’t watch any TV outside of news and a few oddities. Frankly, I don’t recognize a single one of these actors (apart from Nimoy).

But, I don’t see there being much difference between if it’s a TV role or a film role. It’s SERIES roles that get “burned in” more, and they exist in TV and film (like the Ford example I gave).

    13. JDLT2142 says:

…interprete TV and film as different worlds. I think this works the same if your reverse the process. Take any famous actor and stick them into a 30 min sitcom as a guest apperance and you get the same result. If you are immersed in Friends and Brad Pitt walks in for thanksgiving and the TV audience hoops and hollers for a minute the same effect takes place (He does in Season 7 or so i think). It doesn’t matter how good he plays the part, he is in a foreign environment and thus stil Brad.

If I watch Constantine or the Lake House I don’t go “Dude look its Neo”, I think “Oh Keanu Reeves” and then get back to enjoying the movie. I don’t react in a startled way because I expect him to be there or even if he makes a cameo apperance or whatever I won’t be suprised. If however I see someone who I only know from TV (especially when you can only remember the name of their character i.e Cyler) thats what causes a sort of weird deja vu. I think I at least seperate TV and film into

    15. JDLT2142 says:

Firstly i’d like to say it has been refreshing to talk with someone who actually can formulate an arguement without dropping the F-Bomb every other word (I realise the irony here with my first comment but I hope you know what I mean.)

Secondly the issue I am describing is not due to my imagination being lax or lazy (no offence taken). I think the notion I am trying to portray here is a reaction to unexpected ppl in an environment which is does not conform with the other medium where u saw them.

    16. StarshipPoopers1 says:

lol is that Harold from Harold & Kumar at 1:38?

    17. Blue387 says:

I know how this movie will end.

The whole thing was a dream Bob Newhart had.

    18. starluck420 says:

      this movies going to rock

i can’t believe this **** is possible. **** the CGI, this **** ***** so much as the Star Wars prequels.

Wow, you guys will whine about everything. This movie portrays the crew in their younger days, what do you want a bunch 70 year old guys playing the part? As a matter of fact these actors all fall into the same age grade of Shatner and Nimoy when they first started the Star Trek series. And in every Star Trek movie trailer, from the Wrath of Khan to Star Trek Nemesis the enterprise is shown in a firefight. How about watching the movie to see if it has a good story before whining. WAAAAH cry baby

The movie looks boring even at trailer with all CGI.. eh, some things can’t get fixed. Wow, a must see!

    22. TheJediCharles says:

“I remember in Star trek Enterprise BEFORE the timeline of this movie they were building the ships in space.”

Well, in terms of drama, it will be a lot more interesting to see this sucker lift off than ooze out of spacedock like constipation in slow motion.

“they made Spock way too emotional”

This is going to be the youngest, must unrefined, most imperfect Spock we’ve seen to date. He will doubtlessly have not mastered his human half yet.

i must have no life, for i am a trekky. This movie is gonna kick so much ***.
