For the NBA Western Conference Playoffs, this has been a tumultuous year. While some series has been decided in four games and some in seven, most of these series have been exhilarating. If you haven’t been paying attention, here’s a brief analysis of what’s happened so far.

In the first round, the Los Angeles Lakers faced the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Laker’s coach Phil Jackson got this series off to a heated start by making cheap shots about the way that Thunder star Kevin Durant plays the game, insisting he lives at the foul line.

Being the defending champions, the Lakers earned the right to be confident going into the playoffs, but it would not be an easy path to the second round. The Thunder took the Lakers to 7 games, ultimately losing , but letting the world know that they will be a contender for years to come.

In a matchup of I couldn’t care less, the Utah Jazz were able to beat out the Denver Nuggets in X games. I don’t know what it is about the Utah Jazz, but I really just don’t like this team. Williams is great but I just don’t find them entertaining.

In the first round, the Phoenix Suns played the Portland Trailblazers and won in solid fashion in 6 games.

The Dallas Mavericks faced their in-state rival, the San Antonio Spurs in the first round in a battle of #2 vs. #7, respectively. Dirk Nowitzki put up some gaudy numbers, but Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili were stellar and put the Mavs away.

And then there were the Phoenix Suns. The Suns faced their longtime rivals, the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs. However, it is quite the lopsided rivalry as the Spurs have won practically every time they have faced each other in recent years. This time couldn’t have been more different, as the Suns swept through the Spurs 4-0. It was their time.

The Utah Jazz played the Los Angeles Lakers and had a similar fate to the Spurs. The Lakers came out with a vengeance and beat the Jazz in a quick four games. In a great series matchup, the Lakers are now playing the Phoenix Suns in an exciting, fast-paced matchup.
