Like most of the new generation of game consoles, the Nintendo wii is much more than just a games machine. Sure the games are probably what attracts most people to the Nintendo wii but it can do many other thing besides.

With the Nintendo wii you can watch films and listen to music. You can store information, including photos on the Wii. You can connect to the internet and chat to friends, browse websites and download games. It opens up the possibilities that a games console offers.

An aspect that is truly unique to the Nintendo wii is the mii channel. This article will cover what the mii channel is and what a mii is.

The start screen of the Nintendo wii is a bank of small tv screen like images. These images represent various features or options that the wii user has. In the case of the mii, you select the mii channel.

If you are wondering what the mii channel is all about then think about it as your representation on the wii machine and in the wider wii community. It a representation of you or rather it is where you create a representation of you.

So, in effect you create your alter ego on the wii, which is called a mii (or a mini me maybe ?). You can create a character that reflects your looks in real life or you can create your fantasy version. You can create more than one mii, if that takes your fancy.

Creating a mii is easy. Simply venture on down to the mii plaza. This is where the previously existing Miis hang out kicking the hacky sack around or bumping into each other. You will find a button on the left of the screen to create a Mii. From this point your imagination is your guide.

You build your new mii character, like it is some kind of bionic man (or woman). You specify all pertinent details like the name and sex. You can enter the height and weight of the character. You can then go onto to creating the face, that is the most obvious part of an mii in game play.

This can be a lotta fun as you tinker with your ideal character. Should it have a hippy feel to it or maybe the bald look. Maybe you’ve always had a hankering for a big afro hairdo. Indulge all your hair fantasies. You can even deck your character out with facial hair and accessories like glasses and jewelry.

Once you have a few mini miis to play boxing or tennis or another game, it can really bring the games to life. You can identify with your character and enjoy the game play more.

Another mii feature is to mingle. You can send your mii off and it will pop up on another persons console and play them at tennis or boxing or such like. The same goes for you too. One day a mii will pop in and challenge you to a game of bowling. You see how other people look and give you more ideas for your next mii character.
